About WordCamp Kampala

What is WordCamp Kampala?

WordCamp Kampala is a community-driven technology event organized by the WordPress Kampala Meetup, bringing together developers, designers, content creators, entrepreneurs, educators, and tech enthusiasts from across Uganda and beyond.

As part of the global WordCamp program, the event is held annually, with each edition shaped by a unique theme that reflects both the needs of our local community and the realities of the wider tech ecosystem. WordCamp Kampala provides a welcoming space for learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing around WordPress and open-source technologies.

We are living in an ever-changing technology environment, where tools powered by artificial intelligence are rapidly reshaping how websites are built, content is created, and digital products are maintained. These shifts raise important questions for creators and businesses alike: What does this mean for WordPress? What skills matter next? And how do we adapt without losing the human values that open source is built on?

The 2026 edition of WordCamp Kampala responds to this moment along with our community driven theme “Tech for Social Good.” This year, we are focusing on how WordPress and emerging technologies can be used responsibly not just to build faster or smarter, but to create inclusive, accessible, and impactful digital solutions that serve real communities.

Through talks, workshops, and hands-on activities such as DoAction & Contributor Day, participants will explore the future of WordPress in an AI-driven world while actively contributing to social impact projects, including building websites for schools and educational institutions. These initiatives emphasize mentorship, skill transfer, and sustainability, ensuring that knowledge lives on beyond the event.
