WordCamp Kampala 2026 is officially on the horizon, and preparations are underway to once again bring together WordPress enthusiasts, digital creators, developers, designers, entrepreneurs, students, and community builders from across Uganda and beyond. Organized by the WordPress Kampala community, WordCamp Kampala continues a journey that began in 2017 creating an inclusive, welcoming space for learning, collaboration, and contribution around WordPress and open-source technology.
WordCamps are locally organized, community-driven conferences centered on WordPress, the open-source platform that powers over 40% of the web globally. From blogs and news platforms to eCommerce stores and enterprise websites, WordPress plays a critical role in today’s digital economy. WordCamp Kampala 2026 will celebrate this impact while highlighting how WordPress skills and open-source collaboration can drive social good, digital inclusion, and sustainable growth.
This year’s edition will start with a powerful Contributor Day and Do-Action initiative, setting the tone for a WordCamp that puts community impact at its core. On this day, participants will come together to give back in meaningful ways. A dedicated Do-Action team will work on building websites for five education institutions supporting persons with disabilities, helping these institutions strengthen their online presence, accessibility, and ability to serve their communities more effectively.
At the same time, attendees who are not directly involved in website building will have the opportunity to contribute to the WordPress project at Contributor Tables. These tables welcome contributors of all experience levels to support areas such as documentation, translations, accessibility, support forums, testing, design, and community. Whether you are a developer, writer, designer, or first-time contributor, Contributor Day offers a chance to make a real impact and become part of the global WordPress open-source ecosystem.
Beyond Contributor Day, WordCamp Kampala 2026 will feature a full program of talks, workshops, and discussions designed to be practical, relevant, and beginner-friendly. Sessions are expected to cover a wide range of topics including website building, design, accessibility, security, performance, content creation, business growth, and emerging trends in the WordPress ecosystem. The goal is to ensure that everyone—from beginners to seasoned professionals—walks away with new knowledge and actionable skills.
Community connection remains a cornerstone of the WordCamp experience. Attendees will have numerous opportunities to network, share ideas, and build relationships during sessions, breaks, and informal hallway conversations. These interactions often lead to mentorships, collaborations, job opportunities, and long-term community engagement.
As preparations continue, the organizing team is working closely with the WordPress global community and the local WordPress Kampala Meetup to ensure WordCamp Kampala 2026 meets WordCamp standards while reflecting local needs and realities. Venue selection, partnerships, sponsorship outreach, and program planning are all actively underway.
WordCamp Kampala 2026 is more than just a conference—it is a celebration of open source, collaboration, and the power of technology to create positive change. Whether you are a student exploring digital skills, a freelancer or business owner growing your online presence, or a contributor passionate about giving back, this is an event designed for you.
Stay tuned for announcements on dates, venue, speaker calls, and ticket sales. The journey to WordCamp Kampala 2026 has officially begun—and we look forward to building it together.
