WordPress Education Initiatives and Open Source Contributor Pathways: Exploring Credits, Campus Connect, Student Club Programs and Contributor Pathways

Mohammed Kateregga Avatar

This session explores how WordPress is being used as a tool for digital education and career development through initiatives such as WordPress Campus Connect, Credits, Student Clubs, and open source contribution pathways. In Uganda, Campus Connect activities have already reached multiple schools, introducing students and teachers to practical web skills using open-source tools while also exposing them to opportunities to contribute to the global WordPress project. As these programs continue to grow, more institutions are discovering WordPress not only as a pathway to digital learning but also as an entry point into open source contribution and global collaboration. Attendees will hear real experiences from Campus Connect events across Uganda and learn practical steps for starting similar programs in their own schools, campuses, or training centers, as well as how beginners can begin their journey from zero experience to becoming active WordPress contributors.
